Peconic Bay Zen opened its doors on March 7th, 2016, at the Jamesport Meeting House, 1590 Main Road (corner of Manor Lane), Jamesport, NY 11947. Our guided service includes zazen (seated meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), chanting, a brief talk about our practice, and related discussion. Cushions, chairs and benches are available. Services are held every Monday except major holidays at 7:00 p.m. at the Meeting House (arrive at 6:30 if you would like a brief orientation). All are warmly welcome.
Peconic Bay Zen is an affiliate of Boundless Way Zen, located in Worcester, MA. For information about our Zen tradition, our specific practices, and especially our guiding teachers, please see the Boundless Way website: http://www.boundlesswayzen.org/. Boundless Way’s generosity enables us to rent the space for our services and purchase supplies. Dana collected at PBZ services return to Boundless Way in order to provide further support for Boundless Way and their many affiliates. We are especially grateful to Boundless Way’s guiding teachers, to our spiritual director, Melissa Myozen Blacker, Roshi, in particular, and to the helpful members of the BoWZ committee that oversees affiliates like ours. We are also grateful to the Jamesport Meeting House for providing such a fine home for our zendo, and to our many local friends who make PBZ possible.
